I vaguely remember some futurist wrote an article about how Las Vegas was the future of America. Tom, can you weigh in on that idea? Leaving the "sunshine" aside of course.

Winter in the North East is typically an enjoyable time of year. We're setup to handle the weather and it is typically a time to hunker down to do things that good weather and plenty of sunshine discourages.
For those with a man cave or studio it a time for significant playing and having time to do the thing you love doing without the distraction of outside activities.

For those with a view of the woods around their home a casual view of the outside is a sight of entertainment watching the snowbirds and deer. The improved visibility into the woods upon snow covering usually reveals herds of deer roaming about while the younger ones play with each other.
The passing of seasons it an enjoyable event.

I vaguely remember what green grass looks like. As Rich is aware, grass turns brown here around November, and stays brown until April. With the trees bare of leaves, the total effect is like a cover of a Black Sabbath album.

Neal, there are several kinds of grass popular in C'ville. One of them is the kind that browns up during the Winter, though it provides a very nice thick lawn cover and especially pleasing to look at in the Summer. The kind we have at hour house tends to remain greenish during the winter, though it doesn't grow until the warm weather in April, becomes sort of dormant in the summer hot months, then reinvigorates in the Fall months.

I lived in North Texas for 6.5 years, and their winters can get nasty. That Oklahoma wind at night or even on a sunny day rifles right through you. In all that time, I never seen a storm and power outages like what they are going thru the past 10 days.

Southern AZ is brutal in the summer, but this time of year here is my favorite. I do miss the seasonal changes however of the northeast of my youth.
