I continue to have an issue when editing a post. As soon as I enter the edit page and begin typing the entire post is deleted. I can't recover my earlier entry. Anyone else having this problem?
M

I just edited this post with no issue. What gives? Does the person who opened a new message have editing privileges?

I edit my posts all the time and have never had an issue.

What OS and browser are you using?

It sounds like the text of the edit box is getting highlighted, as if you were dragging your mouse over it.

All I can say is that it's not happening to me. Are you on a PC? Are you accidentally hitting ctrl-A when you're in the edit box? Try hitting ctrl-Z to undo the cutting of the text.

Anyway, I'm just theorizing. Can you perhaps take a picture of your screen when you click the edit button and then take a picture after you type a key?

This is what it looks like (on a Mac using Safari) if you accidentally hit command-A and highlight all the text in the edit window. You'd see the same thing (I think) on a PC if you hit ctrl-A:

No problems on my iPad. But I do wish LTG didn't have such a short leash when it comes to writing posts. I'm a deliberate writer and so I time out often.

I have been using my smart phone these days for most things. Its one reason I have text errors - finger hits the wrong letter. I think it is related to to use of the phone. It's an Android model.

Why is the entire post highlighted? Once you highlight the entire post and begin to edit any portion of it the original will disappear. There are times when an edit is too long, times out, and you have to sign in again. I've never had any trouble with editing a post but then again I have a habit of copying my original post, paste it to a word document and go from there.

Doc, I was just guessing that was the problem as that's the only reason that I know of why the message would disappear. I know nothing about Android phones, though. Give me Apple all day long. ;)

Dave, I'll bring this up with the management. You're not the first person to complain about that.

I think that only happens to me when I don't check the "remember me" box when I sign in.
Using Chrome on Windows 7 desktop, BTW.
Yeah yeah I know but the company's on a tech spending freeze at the moment.
I can't even install Windows 10 on this machine, can't put enough memory in it let alone a drive upgrade.

I almost always check the box and when I do I can compose and take my time and I have no problems. If you don't, it'll just log you off the site after a while regardless of what you're doing.

Yeah just wasn't sure if that's what he meant by "short leash".
I take quite a while composing sometimes myself.
