Anybody tried an ebony tailpiece on an Artist Award? Curious as to how it might affect the acoustic sound.

Haven't tried it, but my guess is that a tailpiece swap wouldn't affect the sound at all -- certainly not as much as string selection, or set-up string height would.

Are you trying to alter your acoustic or electric sound?

Is it a tone (brighten/darken) or volume issue? What do you want to accomplish?

No idea, really, just curious as to differences.

Hey Brad - I just played a Benedetto with an ebony tailpeice this morning. It sounded just fine acoustically, in fact I would say it matched my X-50 acoustically.

Part of me wishes I never played it though, because I actually thought about buying it for a few minutes...

Don't know about the Johnny Smith. Wish i owned one though.

I originally had a brass tailpiece on my archtop. Then I switched to Ebony.
It did change the tone for the better on mine, at least there is a comparable
difference between my Ebony tailpiece and the brass one I had.
