Well, I decided to go "plugged" last night and played through my Crate Acoustic CA-125 amp, pretty much straight up with a little touch of reverb.
First I played the DV-52. Filled the room with music for about 45 minutes, played a lot of stuff, and at some serious volume. What a great guitar. The tone really rings evenly across all six strings. It sounded delightful on "Crazy" and "Stormy Monday" and reminded me what acoustic amps are for too: More volume with less effort
But then I switched to the D-25 and played for awhile, and it was definitely a different sound. This one also rings true on all 6 strings but the sound is deeper and darker than the rosewood one, the wound strings are dominant on this guitar. The perfect choice for low end blues, fingerpicking blues in E, etc. , and my partner likes to capo his guitar and play in the higher registers so I gotta have the D-25 when I play with him.
Verdict: gotta have 'em both
