Very nice work here (I like to think of the really old Epi's as pre-Guilds  ):

Just noticed this post while opening the Zydeco one .......... don't know how I missed this.

Duke's awesome; he's gotta be way up there on "Todays Greats" list. Pretty fair voice too !
He plays some fab. stuff on the F. T'birds "Walk That Walk, Talk That Talk"
I especially love his Magic Sam workout, "Never Let You Go" on the Dukes Blues C.D.

He and his band, and John Hammond did Wellington ( our capital ) some years ago. Maybe 50 people turned up !! I was so angry and embarrassed for these brilliant musicians.

The show was brilliant .... the Duke did so many "styles", and John Hammond ! That man is dangerous !

Looooong ago, Duke and "Roomful...." were the resident band at The Knickerbocker in Westerly.
One block down from the former Guild site. There are still groups from with that sound making a decent living around here.

I suspect Joe, that you'd most like Duke when he's "jazzing" ............. I like him most when he's a Bluesin' and a rockin'.
It's all good... to me the blues will always be 'home base'. It's like where it all started. From Ma Rainey to ZZ top, if it grooves deep, I like it.

I do like Duke Robillard most when he's doing his swing thing - he's a master of course, but I like my blues and R&R just a little angrier, meaner, and slightly more out of control.

But again, he's obviously a monster musician!!
