I've owned this guitar for about a year and a half now, It's actually convinced me to sell all my other acoustics and become monogamous. It hadn't seen a whole lot of use throughout its lifetime until it got to me. It's been pretty heavily played from the time I got it seeing studio and busking situations almost daily, leading to things getting worn out rather quickly. Mainly the tuners, which brings me here to ask you wonderful folk for advice on replacement tuners. There's not a whole lot of information out there on this model, much less viable drop in replacement tuners. So if anyone can shed some light on this or share any nuggets of information that might be helpful it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hello Criver2,

Welcome! The tuners that are on your guitar are Japanese copies of the traditional Kluson Deluxe style with Keystone buttons. They're actually not all that bad, but the guitar is already 25 years old and we do not know how much use the instrument has had so far.
I would suggest buying the same style tuners again, so you don't have to make any changes to the guitar.
When you're shopping, make sure you buy the ones made by Gotoh; I believe they're the best in that style.

In the U.S. you can buy them from Stewart McDonald. Look for: Gotoh Vintage Keystone style 3 + 3 tuning machines

If you don't like the gold, you can also buy them with a nickel finish!

Good luck!

Gotoh tuners are amazingly good. When Gibson started their Historic Les Paul back in the 90's, every single guitar had these, and they still do unless things have changed. Great tuners. Easy to find and replace, although rather Gibson-esque.

I went ahead and ordered the gotoh vintage keystone style tuners in gold off of reverb for a pretty good price. Appreciate the help!
