As for snow performance? It's 100% a function of your tires, and winter tires (use four of them) aren't like the ones your father used to use.

Oh, we definitely have snow tires on both cars -- Blizzaks on the van, I forget what I got the the FJ.....

Al, I loved Supercar!! Those puppet shows were fun. And Fireball XL5!!



Sorry, Al. No sales brochure. I was only 8 in '61 and didn't think anyone would ever want it. I feel silly now, of course.

I've never seen Supercar or Fireball XL5, but I loved the later Gerry Anderson Supermarionation series Stingray, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and Joe 90. Unfortunately the earlier black & white series did not get repeated like the colour ones Gerry Anderson moved to live action for UFO and Space 1999.
To link back to the dream cars theme, UFO featured some interesting cars that were modified from vehicles produced for Anderson's unsuccessful movie, Doppelgänger (Journey to the Far Side of the Sun). Very futuristic at the time

I'm a gear head (sprint car fanatic) whose step dad was a mechanic (a real one, not a parts changer) who worked at the Ford dealer... so, Fords are my favorite from 55 - 64, throw in the 49 and 50 ones as well to F-100's to F-150's now (though I think thy are too big)
As far as a dream car, I don't have just one, but if I could have any car built I want it would be a 57 four door sedan (Fairlane 300) in Satin red and satin black with a late model 5.0, late model running gear with a 48 F-100 modernized same as the car. I might even strongly consider a Ranger extended cab (03 maybe) with a push rod 5.0...

Oh, that's light years ahead of the flexi-body Mustang they were making in 1984. It had almost 400hp, which was a staggering amount back then.

My dad's dad owned a Ford lot. In his youth my dad was driving a new "coupe" from off the lot, mom says probably late 40's or early 50's. He wanted to see how fast it would go. I don't know the mph, but he blew the back window out of the car. Grandaddy's papers were in the car and blew out all over the road. My mom (they were dating then) said they were picking up papers for a while.

170 mph, 0-60 in 5.3 sec. V8 developed by Tadek Marek, with pistons supplied by Cosworth. Four Webers, ZF five-speed. Body designed by William Towns, with Mustang-inspired rear panels. Handmade aluminum body panels, shaped on wooden casts. I really shouldn't care because examples are worth more than my house now.

Another, really nice vintage car that I liked was the Volvo P1800 ES.
An old hockey bud had one in British Racing Green. It was a beautiful car, and except that the rear glass doors had a tendency to break when slammed, was a fine automobile.

Gone a while, my youngest (twin) grandkid was flying/piloting a plane for the 1st time today. They were going to fly one state over to get ice cream, and fly back.

Yeah, Ford back windows just couldn't handle the power, 5G's maybe?

I think he had the '74 Mustang Ghia's front end in mind:

Funny, the Aston looked so much like the Ghia that I always assumed it was a Ghia design, only found out about Towns when I checked the Wiki page. But I think he borrowed from the more classic Mustang rear-end, even though the quarter panel and fender resemble the Mustang Ghia from that front quarter view.
