Anyone used them? How do they sound on a Starfire?

Sidenote: I didn’t know the son of the Guild Guitar founder started the DR string co. They are still in Jersey, too.

I like them on my Guild guitars. They sound like the old Guild strings. From what I've gathered Guild used D'Addario forever. Even the old Guild branded sets were D'Addario. I was told about DR by a ex Guild employee that used to set up my acoustics. He thought they sounded like the old strings too. And they are made by Mark Dronge, Al's son in New Jersey.

"old Guild strings"

Do you mean a brand new set of Guild strings that was made and sold a long time ago or a set of Guild strings of unspecified origin that have been on the instrument for a long time? If you need context I had a set of Guild strings that were new circa 1978 and were on a bass until circa 2013. They would be old by either definition but I have no recollection of how the sound changed as they aged.

Perhaps I should have said vintage! New strings from a long time ago.

So I asked them what their string tension is on one of their flat wound sets and they told me that’s proprietary information. I don’t get that. Daddario post their tensions and so does Rotosound.

Just got into DR's, a set of round core Pure Blues on Dano 6 string, impressed.

Was going for a set a flats a while back for JS-2 but seller send me roundwounds instead so never tried the bass strings, sadly.

May still need to if DR does make a set of light gauge flats for JS2 bass.
