Hey Guys and Gals,
Here's Doyle Dykes playing a sweet sounding F-46 NT from the 1980s.

Yes! And I'm looking forward to a DD 6 MCE NGD very soon!
Nevertheless that F-46 sounds thin compared to his New Hartford models!

It might have to do with the way he recorded them in his home videos. On stage he has a lot of effects in the chain. But when he played that F-46 he also played the DD-6MCE, so it was somehow the same setup, and that one has a much better sound to me. I heard him playing the rosewood version DD-6RCE at NAMM 2013 and that was even better I thought!to be fair, most of DD's acoustics sound thin. i think it is more about the finger picking and coolness than the tone for him.
Yes and no. I tried a F-412 and was disappointed but liked the F-512. But the DD-6 Maple sounds great to me. And like everything, not two guitars are the same...maybe i just dont like maple for a tonewood as much as i had hoped.
