Love his playing, but the wide-angle lens used for that video makes for some funky-looking guitar necks.

Nevertheless that F-46 sounds thin compared to his New Hartford models!

to be fair, most of DD's acoustics sound thin. i think it is more about the finger picking and coolness than the tone for him.

It might have to do with the way he recorded them in his home videos. On stage he has a lot of effects in the chain. But when he played that F-46 he also played the DD-6MCE, so it was somehow the same setup, and that one has a much better sound to me. I heard him playing the rosewood version DD-6RCE at NAMM 2013 and that was even better I thought!

and ralf, maybe i just dont like maple for a tonewood as much as i had hoped :)
though I hear the maple dreads (back/sides) is fantastic.

Ralf, the still from that video seems to have four Guilds in it! In the bottom right, it's hard to tell but maybe even five!

Rich, you will love your DD-6MCE. Try GHS DD S325 11.5 strings on it. The Maple sounds great. It is great plugged in as well but I play it unplugged most of the time.
