Had a line squall go thru this afternoon. One of the boats in the marina saw 90 knots on the anemometer. I think I believe it.

So far, we've avoided tree damage this season. They often fall like rain this time of year. A very common mishap that makes its way to the news with some regularity is someone getting buried or pinned in the hole that the root ball leaves when the tree topples. What happens is that someone will start sawing up the tree while someone else is standing near the root ball. When the weight of the tree is removed, the ball will tend to roll back into its original position. I remember the first time I had a tree blown over like that and I started cutting it up. A pretty large section of trunk (maybe 6 feet) that had been horizontal suddenly reverted to vertical when the weight of the additional 40 or 50 feet of tree were separated from it. Pretty startling.
