Boss DS-1 A.K.A. Fisher Price: My First Distortion Pedal... I had a Crate SS Amp that was missing knobs and any kind of reasonable tone.. The DS-1 to the rescue. I was about 17 and I got my first US Made Strat. I was under the impression at that time the guitar was doing most of the heavy lifting.
Funny thing: My first and worst Amp was that garbo SS Crate. I have since then owned several amps, mostly budget tube amps ( blues jr, deville, vox, champ xd, peavey classic 30 ) and my favorite amp was a Crate Palomino V32 Made in St. Louis. I sold it a couple of years ago. I have since been on the lookout for another one... Killer tone. I veer....
