the blonde is a 1953 Epiphone Deluxe Regent and has been with me for ages it used to belong to Duke Robillard. It is the loudest guitar on this planet. It eats Gibson L5's for breakfast

The burst came to me yesterday it is a bit earlier that same year. It is gorgeous has that typical midrange bark of a good old archtop.

Isn't that why Gibson bought Epiphone....to stay in business? Didn't they used to eat Gibsons for lunch and supper too?  Steffan

I have a '46 Triumph and a '49 Broadway and I think there is also a major tonal difference between the Gibbys and the Epis. Both are nice, just different. I often play with a friend who has a (rare) 18" Gibson Super 300. I have no trouble keeping up with him volume-wise and I think the more midrange Triumph cuts through a little better. The Broadway is just as loud, but a bit warmer.
