Upon first use I lifted the Perfect Straw and it snapped off. Anyone know a fix for this? My Starfire needs its pots cleaned.

What I've seen of cans with built in straws like WD40's latest forays into sprays, don't waste your money, miserable.

If it's your common spray can straw, the little red straw that comes with many spray cans will work on others.

I'll have to look at the can of Deoxit I ordered to see if it's some newfangled thing.

I've never used Deoxit, still on the can of stuff I bought in the 90's that works well but running it out. It doesn't hurt finishes at all.

Does Deoxit hurt finishes?

Quick Google check of ingredients lists petroleum naptha as primary ingredient (basically lighter fluid)

Petroleum naptha's frequently suggested as a good "grunge cleaner" for NCL finishes, won't harm 'em. ;)

It doesn't hurt a good finish but if you have a vintage already micro-cracked finish this will happen with anything that contains oils if you spray it on the finish (it's supposed to be sprayed inside the pots not on the finish of the guitar! If you want to put it on the axis of the pot use a cotton Q-tip):

Uncle Google suggests a lot of folks are not happy with the Perfect Straw but none of those folks seem to report that they broke and then fixed one.

Ever since the new spray can came out, I switched to:

Be careful with deoxit. It’s not a lubricant and can seize old pots as it cleans out the old grease. I find Deoxit F5 Fader Lube to be much more useful.

That’s funny you say that cuz the Starfire pots were D5’d then left not playing for 6 months and now the pots are really bad!! So I will try the lube. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah I bet you’ll see a world of difference with some F5.
