There is D5 and F5. My understanding is that F5 both cleans and lubricates for metal to plastic contact and such. I have an old Guild and I am taking the harness out to clean and inspect (The guitar has been sitting for many years). Should F5 be used on both volume and tone pots and D5 used outside of pots for cleaning corrosion? Thanks

There's really no reason to use D5 on a guitar IMO, but if you wanted to then yes - use it for anything that's not a pot or fader.

D5 is really for cleaning things like switch contacts, and the like. It's designed for "all metal contacts". While it does have lubricant, it's not really made for items that rely on conductive carbon traces like pots or faders. https://caig.com/fader-f-series/
