I am proud to finally be playing Delia, my 1963 Guild Artist Award in concerts.

It has been a couple of years' journey but the repairs are complete. I will post more info on her new Kent Armstrong pickup in a couple of days.

Looking forward to hearing more details about the axe.

I don't know if you were referring to the joy of being back performing live again or a long wait to get your guitar repaired, but I know that everyone -- performers and audiences alike -- are delighted to be back out there doing their thing. I know how cathartic it's been personally...

Best wishes!

It must be nice getting to know her again. Congrats. I like how your jacket matches the MOP inlay on your AA headstock!

Great guitar AND jacket!! Getting out again has been a good thing. Our nephew (or soon to be, they're engaged) just had a surprise birthday party at TopGolf here in Las Vegas. People from all over the country and Canada participating. We all ate and drank and had a great time. Wrong venue for music, but that's happening all over as well. Congrats on getting your AA repaired and back in shape for performing. Life is good. (y)

So how do you like that custom wound KA pickup in her? Did it make a noticeable difference?

Hi Mikey,

It’s really night and day. Kent did a great job. The new pickup has clear separation of the strings and great response.

Since I play a couple solo gigs per week I really like the guitar to have a lot of different options in the tone and volume knobs.

I play most standards with no pick so I need to be able to pop out that bassline and this pickup has the definition I need to create that percussive drive of an upright bass.

I use a Wes Montgomery inspired down stroke with my thumb and some upstrokes with my first finger when soloing. This pickup captures all the different tones the AA is singing.

Not to mention the teardrop pickguard forced the old pickup lower towards the bridge. The new stairstep allows the pickup to be settled right at the base of the fingerboard and the difference is amazing.
