I love my DeArmond Starfire Special ('98, Korean made) but can someone tell me why it weighs so much more than an SF III? It sounds great, I really like the 2K single coil p'ups, but its kinda like lugging a Les Paul around on stage, my shoulder gets weary after awhile.

Hi dreadnut,

The DeA SSS is semi hollow (i.e., mostly solid) with the center block down the center. The SF3 is full hollow. The DeA SSS is superior to the SF3 for feedback rejection. (I just completed my project of installing a set of Franz PuPs on my DeA SSS and it kicks DeASSS!) I miss the standard DeA SSS with the 2k's and some day will pick up another.
