Greetings all,
I just picked up a beautiful late-50s Guild archtop acoustic. It may have been originally sold with an optional DeArmond Rhythm Chief 1000 pickup. I'm interested in getting either a DeArmond model 1000 or model 1100 for it. The difference is that the 1100 comes with adjustable pole pieces, while the 1000 does not.
The question is whether the adjustable pole pieces of the 1100 make a substantial difference over the 1000 regarding string balance. The cost difference certainly can be significant. Any experience or guidance to offer would be most appreciated.
