Not my favorite time of year. I typically struggle to stay up past 9 p.m. if I'm not moving about and my typical wake up time is 3 a.m.

So now I'll drive to work in the dark, drive home in the dark and start waking up at 2 a.m.

I've never really been able to adjust unless I get into a project or some chore which cuts into what little family time there is to begin with. I usually go to work before the rest of the house wakes up and getting home after 6 doesn't leave much time. I like to say I only work half days....I get in at 6 and get home by 6....half a day.

Well....my early morning post count will certainly go up

Yeah, the times they are a-changin'... the sunrise and sunset times, that is, up here at latitude 48.25.

It is most depressing. I really wish they would do away with it.

If it wasn't so hot in Arizona (I think they still ignore the time changes) I'd move there. Seems pretty bothersome to me.

i think a part of AZ does do the time change twice a year, but i know most of the state does not. i just know starting this Monday, i am 2 hours behind EST not 3 :)

When told the reason for Daylight Savings Time, the Old Indian said, "Only the government would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it to the bottom, and have a longer blanket."

Every year (actually twice a year) politicos talk about doing away with the time changes and every year it goes on and on.

Not really an applicable analogy. It doesn't take in to account the relationship of the blanket to what it's trying to cover.

I for one like the time changes.

I hate it, too. You can call it whatever time you want, the amount of daylight hours is what it is based on the time of year. Changing the clocks does nothing except frustrate. Plus see my latest post in the COVID-19 Humor thread.

Since my work hours don't move, I enjoy having sunlit hours after work during the Summer. While I don't mind driving home after work in the dark, I hate getting up in the dark so I appreciate the time shift so it's lighter in the morning.

I don't get the hate?

I don't mind it, one of the arguments for it in Michigan is that it makes it lighter in the morning when the kids are getting on buses and going to school.

There was some discussion years ago about having "double daylight savings." One old boy called into the radio station claiming the extra hour of sunlight was going to ruin his lawn.

I don't get the hate?

It has taken me as long as a month (in the Spring) to rebuild my sleeping times and habits so that I actually get rested at night. The Fall adjustment is usually a little better but for me it is an unwanted stress. The haters I know about have similar complaints. People who like to back up their hate with statistics can usually find an increase in automobile accidents around the time change. Many of the negative effect on job performance related to varying shift work can often be applied as arguments against the time change.

That said, if you have schedules driven by both the clock and daylight it makes sense.

Now that I’m retired it doesn’t make any difference to me. When I was working, I hated the disruption.
CA voted to do away with it, but apparently it (literally) takes an act of Congress to make it happen.

Bingo, it's lighter sooner in the morning. You get used to it after a couple weeks. I never change my car clock. It can goof you up on the day it happens if you had a meeting, but that's about it for actual inconvenience.

Atomic signal powered clocks change on their own, pretty seamless.

If you plow snow in the morning, it makes a big difference.

Spring forward, Fall back.
