I'm in the process of purchasing a 1991 D-50, but the description says "inexplicably dated MAR 6 1981 on inside of top." Could this have been the date the wood was acquired, or thicknessed or something else?
It's my understanding that date stamps inside (on the neckblock and/or braces) correspond to the dates those subassemblies were completed. Ten years does seem like a long time between assembling a substructure and getting far enough along to get a SN... but I 'spose it's not impossible.
first off...are you sure it's a 91 and not an 81 ? they didn't change during that time. What's the serial number ? Is the prefix DD ? If it is DD it's likely an '81.
Secondly: When Maria changed her rubber stamp on march 6th, she mistakenly moved the 3rd wheel and made it an 8 instead of 9. There could be hundreds of them out there .
