hey there

This time i'll need the help of hans about dating my new D50 juste scored on ebay for 800 dollars....really low price i hope there will no probs...

eBayISAPI.dll

here is the very difficult serial number to reed

i think it's a 2002 or 2003 cause there's the fender logo in the bottom ot the head

Also i scored a DV52 sooner and i'll have to choose one between these too guitars

My DV52 is without the HG finish and i think that the bass are too present... Anyone got the same guitar and reflection??

OK j've just receive the D50

SO i'm a little bit worried cause :

-The serial number is erased

-On the top of the serial numbre the mention USED is labeled

SO is this some factory default? or maybe it's about the plickguard which is missing.... i dunno and i hope that someone will have an answer !

THanks !

It looks great without a pickguard!

There are a number of reasons that the guitar could be stamped used. Most likely it could have been a demo model that was sold after a show like NAMM, those are stamped used before being sold. The fact that your guitar doesn't have a pickguard could mean that it had been a display item.

Also -- regarding the date, have you looked inside at the top side of the base of the neck? Guild stamped the neck with the date the neck (not the entire guitar) was completed.

There has been much discussion elsewhere on this point but my ability to find it by searching seems to be impaired. Maybe you'll have better luck with a search.

But, in discussions about the overall market for Guild guitars, it was stated that factory seconds were being sold. A factory second had part of the serial number obliberated, had "USED" stamped on the headstock and did not have a warranty.

Several posters who had inspected such guitars said they could not determine why the guitar was a second. Others found minor cosmetic issues but nothing that effected sound or playability.
