I like Billy well enough. A super flatpicking talent. (yes he comes from a metal shredding past) And it's not that I ever NOT want to see somebody succeed and reap all the rewards that come with it, but Billy is currently a
major rising hot ticket on the jam band scene and only growing fast. Bluegrass has always been intertwined in that scene going back to the Grateful Dead. But now it's gone over the top. I really enjoy a relaxing night out of some high quality old school Bluegrass, but honestly, my interest in going to see Billy now is waning, as it'll be in a packed amphitheater full of the same drugged out kids you'd see at a Phish concert. (he recently sold out 2 nights at Pier 6 Pavilion, a 5,000 seater in Baltimore. (aftermarket tix were going for hundreds!)) Maybe it's just me, but when I think of bluegrass, I don't think Nitrous tank balloons in the parking lot, and zonked out hippies doing their free form dancing in the isles w/o ever even watching the band.
