I ordered some strings the other day, and when they arrived, found I'd done some kind of fat finger thing and ordered D'Addario 85/15 10-50 Lights (EZ940) instead of the usual PB 10-47s I intended. Has anyone tried these on a Guild 12, and (before I go to the trouble of fitting them) do you think they'll be OK on a blonde FJ30-12, or will the sound be OTT bright?

I haven't tried those strings, but my gut feeling is that they would be quite bright on a maple 12-string tuned to standard pitch. Might not be so bad if you normally tune down a whole step.

80/20s might be too bright to start till you break them in or leave them on long enuff to mellow some(like a month).
However, your string alloy combo is 85/15, so that might not be too bright out of the box.

A bit heavy on the bass end, it would be good for permanent dropped D, or as GGJag said, tune the whole set a semitone or two low.
