I have a '94 D6 S-NT and I'm shamelessly soliciting opinions/experiences with this model. I recently restrung it and it just sounds flat to me for some reason. My D50 sustains until tomorrow but the D6 just doesn't cut it by comparison. Bad strings? Bad vibes? Bad karma?

Hi Joe,
I have a D6 from the early 90's and it sounds just fine. Nice mahogany vibe to it and a very nice neck. Have always thought it was sort of like a "D40 lite" model.

I don't really know the science of it, but apparently there is a crystalline structure in the wood grain. The more you play (and the harder/louder you play), the more the structure is changed. A very dull acoustic can really open up if the top has a chance to vibrate more openly, which one could presume happens if the crystalline structure in the wood is changed or disrupted. Some people will even set their guitar in front of a speaker on moderately high volume for a while to give the top a chance to open up. There are some other threads around here that could probably explain better.

That's awesome!

I'm a big fan of DRs - they're just hard to find sometimes. I don't know if it's the the way they are wound, the gauges they use, or just the Dronge family magic, but they always seem to draw out the best in any guitar.
