After months and months waiting, my local small shop got a new D40 Traditional in last week. I was out of town so had to wait until today to check it out.
Well, I was completely blown away by the tone of this guitar. Even brand new, the tone is full and rich And extremely articulate for a dreadnought.
The adi braces add a dimension I hadn’t experienced…almost a little restraint when fingerpicked, but with a pick it just explodes with sound and volume. I know as it ages it will get richer and more complex. I’ve experienced that phenomenon many times with other guitars.
I’m pretty new to Guilds, owning a new D20 (which I love) for a few months. Really looking forward to getting to know this beauty a lot better. I’ll need to determine what strings will work best (likely Monels). I will add that even brand new the playability is superb.
count me as a fan of the Oxnard Guilds. I know everyone knows what they look like, but I had to add a couple of pics.
