Hello, I have a Corona built D40. I’ve bought it new from a store that’s not even there anymore. I think maybe in 2001. I lost my receipt. I’ve looked and looked for similar models for sale but haven’t found much. How can I find the market value of my guitar? The only alteration made was adding a fishman pick up, installed by a professional.

Does Fender no longer own Guild? Sorry I’m out of the loop these days.

Guild was purchased by Cordoba Music Group back in 2014 I believe it was from Fender Musical Instruments. They've since built a new factory in Oxnard, CA. Guild guitars are made there by them now.

There are about 20 years of "Fender Guilds" built at 4 different manufacturing facilities.

They don't own Guild any more but what is catching people's eye is the Fender, Hand Crafted in Corona marking on the back of the neck. It is unusual . I'm tempted to say I've never seen the combination before but I'm sure someone will find a post where I discussed a previous example :)

No, not really unusual. Common for 2001/2002 first guitars. Hans did not deny 2001, so it must be a 2001!

Ya. I’ve had a hard time finding any like mine for sale. I was wondering how I could find the market value.

Well my memory has been corrected so it is the expected marking for at least a brief period.

As for value I'd start looking at values of Guild D-40's, regardless of age or factory. I'd then consider the instruments in very similar cosmetic condition to be comparable. If there was a lot of variation in price I'd probably drop the older ones since some 30 year old instruments are prized because they have opened up and mellowed and others are discounted because of the fear (real or imagined) that they need a neck reset. I would then remember that we are really finding an expected value but actual sale prices may be a couple hundred, more or less. When I say I expect the price of something to be $1,000 what I really mean is I would consider $750 or less a screaming bargain and $1,250 or more high and possibly realistically so.

If I did this right the following is current used listings on Reverb

and this is Sold listings

Note that you have new instruments that you need may want to filter out and the Sold listings are the last asking price which may not be the actual sale price. looking at the above for about 30 seconds maybe $1,400?

Yeah, my JF30-12 has the Fender decal.

Looks like you could get a brand new one for that. I'd say realistically, it's value is closer to $1,000.

My 2002 D-40 has the Fender decal. If it is mint I wouldn't sell for less than $1250. The $1000 ones on reverb are only in fair condition. I think the new dealer price was around $1700-1800. Got mine in 2008 for less than $1000 new. Guild sold alot of seconds when the closed Corona which may hurt the value. The early ones were made from kits from Westerly.
