Hello,
I just purchased a D25 from a small music store I frequent. It's out of Rhode Island. The serial number is AD403942, so I'm guessing it's from 1998 or later. Anyone know the year?

Also, because the strings are a little aged, but never really used, would it be a good idea to put new ones on? I'm thinking I should, but what a waste of good strings.

I don't play professionally. Mostly blues and a little finger picking.

Thanks in advance for any advice, it's always welcome. I enjoy reading and learning from the posts.

Hello Bob O.,

Your D-25 is indeed from 1998.

:) Well Bob, if she hasn't had a new set of strings in almost 10 years, new strings should really bring her to life. Try a set of John Pearse, they're cheap, sound fabulous and last a long time.

Hello, Mole2 :D .
How embarassing, I enjoy photography but I havn't taken a photo of my collection yet. Actually, I probably won't pick the D25 up until mid-December. The finish on the D25 is black. The Starfire II has is black as well. There weren't any others to choose from. I'll try to remember to email you when I post the photos. Thanks for asking.

Hell Bob O,
Please change the strings; often! As well always wipe the strings after you play. I am using DR-Handmade Rare (lights) right now but prefer Martin Marquis phosphorus bronze lights. The DR's are a little bright out of the box but mellow in about a week and have lasted a long time . The Martin's have a richer tone but don't quite last as long. If you don't know want you want; experiment.
Good luck and keep on pickin!
J.D. :D
