Hey there!

Just want to collect information about the D100.

Is there anybody here who got it?
What are differences between D100 and D100C ?
Is this the ultimate Guild dreadnought as the catalog said?

Compare to the D55, is there really notable differences?

I ask you because i may buy one of them very soon...but got to to sell my starfire III....here's a dilemma....

Thank you for your advices!

The "C" has the carved heel. If you've found one, you need to let me buy it! :D

Thank you for the explanation !

lol yes i agree with the fact that it's pretty rare to see D100.....

Nevertheless the guitar is in europe... so it will cost you a lot of money due to euro/dollars basis...

It's a 1993 one so there's not imperial grover :(

I certainly respect your opinion, but personally I love the carved heel. But then again, I've been accused of liking gaudy acoustics anyway. :p

Those '90s carved heels were pretty much all done by one man - Jose C.
They are an acquired taste, but I like 'em.

I've only seen pictures of the D-100, but I'm with West in appreciating the craftsmanship of the carving at the neck block. A most distinctive feature.

To experience the epitome of gaudy, check out the guitars made during the time of Stradivarius. Unlike the violin, the guitar has traditionally been an instrument that somehow invited ornamentation. It's a very interesting contrast in traditions.

Old C.F. Martin and Orville Gibson were into it, too.

Seems to me that Guild flattops were always designed with the passion tilted toward the "made to be played" theme. Even at the top of the line, there is a understated beauty to the ornamentation. You seldom see Guilds that look over the top.

It's really mainly in the 1990's that Guild starts to do opus-type guitars.

And I'm glad they did it before the Fender takeover.

Hi, guys. A few months ago I had an opportunity to buy a D 70, which was a fairly ornate guitar at the time they were made, and I bought it! It also came with the carved heel option, but mine doesn't have it. Another cool feature was scalloped bracing, which I like. I love playing this guitar, I'll bet a D100 would be great.

They are, believe me. The one I played was very nice, and one of the most beautiful acoustics I've ever seen.

Guild D100

Hi,

the D-100 auction is at ebay in Germany. The seller is a shop, City Music Bonn. The shipping costs with DHL will be ca. 100 $. The seller will only sell to the European Union.

All the best

Peter
