Very nice, Ab! I hope rolz is still monitoring this thread. Thanks for posting that.

Say, I know the band, Väsen, is from Sweden, but are they popular there? I discovered them about 4 years ago and have enjoyed their music very much.

Thanks.

Thanks :)

I've actually never heard of Väsen before  but I looked on their homepage and they seem to be more popular abroad then over here. Glad you like them.

West R Lee >> Thanks, yes it's me playing the Neil tune, also one of my favorites.

Here is a third clip

John Martyn used to play a D55 alot, look for some old videos from the 70s or just pick up his Live BBC sessions

I seem to get a similiar sort of tone as him out of my D40

Abalone, thanks for upping those, as expected, they all sound wonderful. how did you record it, direct through the camera?

also, that first clip, its a neil young tune right? its sounds very familiar. i'm not really a big fan, all i have is an mp3 of Heart of Gold.

i will, i will. im just discovering his music, along with many others from the 70s and 60s. im only 21!!!

hey abalone, can you do a strumming video. maybe a mix of open chords and power chords. i read somewhere the d-55 is a versatile guitar and you can do just about anything in it.

Hey Rolz,

Don't worry too much about not being familiar with Neil Young's music. I'm familiar with it, but would rather be 21! :D

yeah, what the hell am i doin here? i'm guessing most of you are nearing middle-age...

west, id rather be your age and have all your guitars and records. maybe...

actually, i'm just a guy fond of high quality stuff. thats all.
for example, my other passion, photography. you'll see me roaming around on Leica forums a lot.

i seem to just enjoy reading about these expensive stuff than actually owning them. :?

someday...someday

:D Youth is priceless Rolz, but thank you. I did have to spend many years with just one guitar as I simply couldn't afford any more.

It's good to have you here and I wish more guys your age hung out here so that the old Guild tradition might "Carry On"..........hey there's another old Neil Young tune from the 70's....well, CSNY actually.

BTW, thanks too for the "approaching middle age" comment. I sort of think of myself as at the upper end of middle age at 49.

Take care,

West

Hey now! :? People used to think I was a hippie 'cause I had long hair. My response was, "being a hippie is a state of mind, not a look." I'll stick with that answer on the old/middle age issue as well.

The Warren Brothers

I watched Jeff Foxworthy's show, Big Night Out last night and the Warren Brothers were on as guests. One of the brothers was playing a sunburst Guild D-55 and the other brother was playing a Gibson acoustic. The brother playing the Gibson had a feedback buster in his soundhole and the brother playing the D-55 had Duct-Tape over his sound hole.
Anyway, these two brothers are pretty good.

Guild D 55 is a very beautiful guitar. I am the lucky one who got to play this sweet sweet gold of a guitar for two years when I was in Australia. God those were days. I works like charm and LOOKS terrific.. With its gold plates and bone nuts and saddle. such a gem to hear it play. Whenever my trip back to US guitar owner ask me to bring spare parts like nuts, Guild guitar saddle and bridges as they were not readily available in Australia. I go to Macnichol to buy saddles.

I dont have the video but whenever I miss those days I watch this video where this guys is playing Guild D 55.
