Thanks for your help!

The D-55 gets the nod to go to the Utah high country with me for the coming week! Very low humidity there, though. Do I need to soak the case humidifier disk to make it work? Appreciate your insights! eljayski

Ah, gotcha. If you're gonna' store it in CO, I'd recommend room humidification to you, LJ. But, as far as charging the Humicase's system, I have no experience... Someone else will have to weigh in. My guess is that, no matter what, you'll have to be adding water at least weekly.

Anyway, have we seen NGD pictures of your new D-55? Would love to!

I have a whole-house humidifier and a portable humidifier in my guitar room. The in-case feature will be great for being out in the wilds for a week.

I got my D-55 a little about a year ago and posted some NGD pics at that time.

Just found the Humicase website and my question is answered.
Yeah, you unscrew the cover, take out the little sponge, soak it with water, squeeze it out a little so it doesn't drip, then put it back in and screw on the cover.

I found that the little Humicase sponge is considerably smaller than the sponges that I cut in half and put inside a baggy that I punched with holes. I put that under the headstock, but due to the laws of thermodynamics, the moisture will pervade throughout the case interior. The good thing about the Humicase system is that it is right above the soundhole. Still, that little sponge is small, so its amount of moisture is small and may not bring the humidity up all that much....
