D-25 I can afford…

Going to check out an ‘86 black D-25 on Sunday. It’s at a shop, and a major out of the way drive for me, but the price is really good. It has one repaired lower bout side crack that is only visible internally according to the owner. I’ve been wanting a D-25 for some time but the early ones that I really want are out of my reach in this market. The tough part is, I contacted him first with a full price offer but it’ll take a 30% non refundable deposit to hold it. By the looks of the saddle it doesn’t look like a neck reset is needed but I have to see it in person. I’m going to talk to him before making the drive though. The phones were down when I tried to call.

Yeah I’ll be bummed if it’s a reset candidate and that’s why it’s priced where it is. I’ll know more when he calls me tomorrow.

Going tomorrow. He’s holding it for me. 99% sure I will get it as long as everything checks out. It’s a 3 hour drive that I can only make because we are visiting family. They aren’t shipping guitars in this heat. Can’t blame them really. This guitar is calling to me though, so two hours out of my way home I go!

I’ve done the long drive to get a guitar I wanted. Though at today’s gas prices I’d want to be pretty darn sure it was good to go. It’s part of the thrill of the hunt. Catching the elusive Guild in the wild. Makes it all that much more special.
