First of all, hello everyone. I'm new to GT. In November, I bought the D-140 Westerly collection from a local supplier. Of course, I tried the guitar first and the sound was really great. A few days later, I decided to buy it and also informed the salesman, who packed the guitar and it was already waiting for me. I admit that I didn’t test the guitar at the time because I was convinced it was the one I tested as we had agreed. Today, I’m no longer sure of that even though the salesman convinces me otherwise. I started playing the guitar 14 days after the purchase (I was absent) and then found that at the original height of the bridge at a slightly stronger play, the sound was muffled, which I didn’t notice during the test play. After examining the neck, I found that no matter how I adjust the neck, the fixed part of the neck (the part of the neck that is connected to the body of the guitar) is always a little higher and this “kills” the sound. The solution was to raise the bridge but it is still not quite right. The more I raise the bridge the less playful it is. I practice fingerpicking more than strummin, but it's still a nasty feeling. I wanted to return the guitar but the seller said I missed the return deadline and it is also not a matter of warranty. Anyway, I’m mad at myself for not being careful enough when buying.

In short, does anyone have experience with how to improve this neck issue or has a similar experience and how he solved it.? A little confusing written but thanks in advance for each answer. Also in the sense .. "it's your fault, why didn't you check the matter in detail ... etc" :). I beleive for 650 € you still expect some quality, even though it is Chinese ... :).
Regards,
Tom

Hello Tojla - welcome to LTG

Since you did not tell us where you are located - and I assume it was new guitar that you bought - why not send e-mail to Guild?

I'm sure the company does not wish to have an unhappy customer with new guitar - no matter wether it is US or China built guitar.

I had once very bad experience wit a car dealer - I ended writing 3-page letter to Mercedes - after few weeks the seller called me to settle the case - gave me a very decent discount - and humbly asked if I could write Mercedes again to tell things are ok now. I had him give me free Blaupunkt CD-radio on top - and he agreed - later he told me that Mercedes has been happy w end result . . .

Looking at the Euro sign I guess in Europe...which makes it more difficult writing to Guild. I guess it needs to be fixed with the store.

Ralf

Good catch - I missed that - but there is european distribution HQ - I called them few years back and got good answers then. They were very helpful - my problem then was, that the Guild I wanted - OM240CE - was for unknown reason not available at the time. Thinking how they were interested in my tiny problem makes me feel they may be as interested in Tojla's problem.

New guitar has warranty - but so far we do not know if it was new. Musikhaus Thomann has it @ 679 - incl 24%VAT - so propably it was new.

But if the store has any intention of having good reputation - they should correct the situation.

Thanks to everyone for the tips. I agree with the warranty. I already took the guitar to the salesman and he will give it to his luthier. I will let you know about the result.

The guitar was definitely purchased as new in November 2021 in local guitar store.

By the way, I am from Slovenia, Europe, as you have already established.
