Yowza!!! That is a killer looking guitar. Yeah, don’t cover up that gorgeous redwood. Clear pickguard.

I agree. The pick guard actually takes away from the beauty of the rosette. Your eyes don’t know where to go, a little too busy

beautiful guitar. Congrats!

The guitar arrived and it is everything I expected and more. The looks, tone, sustain and playability are amazing.
After considering the pick-guard option, I decided that in keeping with the original premise, it more closely resembles the original F-612. The wood shows through because the guard is so thin and it is much darker that the original photo which still had the white paper backing attached. It’s easily removable because of the special finish and a very light adhesive and lastly, I have 94 collectable guitars, so lots of beautiful wood at which to look! I hope everyone enjoys the look of the finished project!

I did one other thing on this guitar. I reversed the string order on the 3rd set. Because I’m a finger picker, the octave often gets missed using national finger picks on the “up” picking motion…

Wow how about that. I’m not much of a finger picker, occasionally, but I actually have that same problem using my guitar pick. So on the next string change, I was going to use my nut files and slightly slot the saddle on the two middle sets, to get the top of the larger string even with smaller string. I think that will help me a lot. Or, maybe I’ll just practice more.🤔😩 Also that bridge is looking mighty.. Guild-ish..on purpose maybe?

Yup on purpose. Also, the strings heights should be even on the bottom of the string, not the top.
If they’re even on the top, the octave string has to travel farther making more difficult to to fret evenly. If not done perfectly, a nut file on the saddle can also dull the sound of those strings and possibly affect the intonation.

Gotcha. I’m glad this came up before I changed it. So as I said, I think I’ll just practice more. Short cuts usually never end well for me anyways. Thanks!

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness. That is beautiful!

The headstock in your avatar looks the same, so you new guitar has a sibling?

Thanks! Yes, the one in the photo is an Elijah Jewel Grand Auditorium model. I also have a Dreadnaught and a classical. They all play wonderfully and sound amazing. Michael Kerry is a superb luthier.

That is truly a work of art RHS! Every aspect in itself is so well done. Amazing to just look at, I’m dying to know what it sounds like. The wood combo has me intrigued. Any chance if a sound clip or two at some point?

Thanks for your kind words! I’ve no equipment to create a sound clip, but I’ll look into it.
