Many Western Swing bands used clarinets in the 30s and 40s, and Don comes out of that tradition. I met Don about 25 years ago when a co-worker from Texas brought him to New Haven for a show. Nice guy, and as was said above, real cowboy.

He was at NAMM this year...several opportunities to hear him sing and play...his voice is still clear as a bell from bottom to top...and he's 74 years old. :shock: He's a very gracious gentleman and an absolute music treasure. :wink:
