Cost to replace fretboard

What does it cost to remove a fretboard and replace it? This would be rosewood, so the fretboard itself wouldn't cost much, but the labor would be very high, right?

I had a friend's Gibson and asked our local luthier about replacing the fretboard, and at the time he said it'd be about $300 - $400. I'm not sure if the price was guitar-dependent (some might be harder to replace than others - like bound fretboards, etc) but it's major surgery for a guitar I'd think, priced accordingly...

That's a lot of Ameros. It sounds like the kind of repair you don't do unless you have to. I've seen some complex fretboard repairs online. It was amazing how they could restore an old fretboard that was pitted from decades of playing.
