Hi,
it's been a long time since my latest post here... :)
I managed to mount a working original pickup for my '66 Starfire V at last. I bought this guitar more than one year ago and haven't played it yet!

My question is:
what is the correct pot value for volume and tone pots in this guitar?
The stock pots read 730k and 550k (volume) and 1.1M and 570k (tone). They don't seem to work perfectly and I want to replace them all.
The SF VI (http://www.guildguitars.com/resources/wiring_diagrams/Starfire_VI.pdf) and SF IV (http://www.guildguitars.com/resources/wiring_diagrams/Starfire_IV.pdf) wiring diagrams in the Guild website show 200k for tone pots and 500k for volume and master pots. Are these values correct for a '66 specimen? I've never seen 200k pots in a guitar before, although I've read that Gibson used 300k linear tone pots at some stage.
I'd like to have the right values from a Guild owner/expert rather than starting to fiddle with different pots until I find a good combination....

TIA,
Carlo

I don't know what the values are supposed to be, but I think 500K is a good starting point for both volume and tone pots. They're sort of "in the middle" and are a pretty standard value.
Works great for the Franz and DeArmond pickups in mine anyway, I think they'd be good for the smaller humbuckers too.

Thanks Walter.
I know that 500k are generally the stock value with humbuckers, but I wanted to start with the original value to nail the sound that I have loved so much from some recordings...
