The rest of the guitar... looks like a normal Corona D-55.

Don't know much about the Corona label formats, but CU and CV prefixes seem correct ... What doesn't make sense to you, GG?

The CV prefix is correct for the D-55, but the numbers were used sequentially and the highest I've seen is in the high hundreds CV000xxx. The CV120001 would imply that 12000 D-55s were made and we know that can't be the case given Corona production was only a few years and D-55 production was low no matter what facility it was made in.

Without some info on the source of the two pictures it's hard to tell. Could be a few reasons.
