I hope you folks don't mind, but I got my hands on a 70's Guild M-75 awhile back that is begging for restoration and I can't help myself and I'm going to modify it into M-85 bass! Ain't modern science wonderful, said the mad professor! Here's the original before I stripped it..............

Next will be a set of Dark Stars, already ordered from Fred Hammom.

Say, does anyone know the neck angle on an M-85 off the top of their head. 3 or 4 degrees maybe? Gotta work that one out!

Hey Doc:

Sounds like a fun project. But I think I'll leave my own M 75 as is for now. :)

By the way, could you please post one or two edge photos of the stripped body? I've always wondered how it was constructed. Your front & rear photos whetted my appetite for more.

thanks

Sure, I post some more pics when I get a chance. We're totally gutting our kitchen and it's taking too much time away from my projects!

The construction is essentially solid mahogany body with 1/4"+ carved maple top.

Thanks - whenever you get a chance.

NB- if you're cooking over a fire in the yard during the renovations, make sure that the M-75 body is in a safe place :D

No camp fires, we'll be at work during the day and eat out at night! I'm just doing the tear out, pros are installing it all next week in 2 days. All of my projects are in a safe place!

My underground shop is in a secret bunker to protect me and my mongrel basses from intruders!
