After lurking as a non-member on this forum and learning a ton about all things Guild, and after having bought a 1512 last year (a 512 shimmers in the future as an aspiration--or maybe mirage), I now have my eye on the F-30 in the subject heading. Right now I've got a Gibson J-45 granadillo (sitka top, a rosewood-like b & s, but without rosewood's possibility of "muddiness"), the Guild 1512 (rosewood b & s), and a nice old Seagull Grand Artist Parlor guitar (also solid rosewood b & s). I have never actually played an F-30 (!) but from everything I've read and listened to, it seems like it would be a missing piece to my range of guitars in terms of body size and tonal qualities and finally bring some mahogany into the mix, a 25.5" scale length to my 6 strings, and an Adi top.
From my other 6 strings I know I'm comfortable with the the Aragon F-30's 1 11/16th nut, even for finger style. I'd be hoping that I could use it for both finger and flat picking and strumming. Anyone have experience with how it handles these things? I don't expect a dread, as I've got one, but wondering about your thoughts.
In terms of what I play: finger style example: Townes Van Vandt's version of "Dead Flowers," "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright," Franz Ferdinand's "Katherine, Kiss Me"; flat-picking: Rolling Stones' version of "Love in Vain," Lucinda Williams' version of "Return of the Grievous Angel," Stones's "Sweet Virginia,": strumming, well, mostly classics from late 60s-early 70s, "Let It Bleed," "Maggie May"...
The F-30 I'm looking at is sold as New Old Stock, and would come with a warranty, and is supposed to be in mint shape. Any thoughts on reasonable price to offer? Thank you very much in advance for any thoughts.
