Hey computer gurus...why is Javascript suddenly not working with my Firefox browser? When I visit MySpace to hear your clips I get the message Oops you need to have Javascript enabled and Adobe Flashpoint installed. Well, I have both, according to my browser settings. I'm a pretty savvy computer user, so I know how to poke around in my settings, etc, and all seems right, but still Java doesn't work? Any ideas? I've reinstalled Adobe. No difference. Is there something buried in Windows XP that I need to correct? Thanks for the help and sorry for posting this question here, but hey, you're my pals!

Hi CWG: maybe your version of Java is out of date? You can go to their website and check ... free download. Also, if you have several old versions of Java on your hardrive, they eat all kind of space and aren't needed. After you get the current versions, you can un-install the old ones ... and free up space for tunes! Might work but won't hurt if it doesn't. CJ

I'm having the same problem using IE. I've tried everything and I get the same error message. I've been on the tech site. I've deleted every bit of old Java and reinstalled. I've done a restore on my pute at least a half dozen times using different restore points. Nada. I've shut down all my firewalls. Nada. I don't know what is wrong. I'm thinking that Sun Mircrosystems (java) still olds a grudge against MS and they'll do anything to screw up a system using MS programs of any sort.

But, I've loaded new HP printer software that doesn't work either on the front end. I've loaded new digital camera software that also doesn't work on the front end. I keep getting the same error messages that something or another failed to load.

I seriously believe that most puter problems are a result of the extra crap built into software programs. The dll files necessary to run a software program aren't in the exe files but in a part of the promotional BS package that's on the disc or downloaded from the web.

If you've recently added any programs it's hard to say how Java is affected by them.

Also, there are a good many sites that require java and I've discovered as well that my java WILL work in most. It could just be a web restriction indicative of that particular web site.

Is there a red bar through the Javascript circle in the bottom corner of Firefox? Click on it to remove that bar and Javascript will be re-enabled.

Bikerdoc, you have the right idea, but reversed. Microsoft doesn't want any other software breaking it's monopoly of the desktop market.

Maybe Techshop might be a better place.

You're probably more on the mark with MS being the culprit.
