When I click on an external link in a post here, it goes to the link in the same browser tab (Firefox) I am using to view the forum. This is the only place on the entire internet that this happens for me and believe me, I surf a LOT. I don't prefer this because I have a number of tabs open at any given tab and often, I "lose" the LTG forum tab and then have to open it back up. Not hard to do but I don't see the need for it. Any idea why it does not open a new tab like it does everywhere else? From a webmaster POV, I would think you would prefer it open a new tab, as you do not lose the customer to the other website. BTW, I know that I can right-click on the link and choose to open it in a new tab but I forget to do that. I just don't understand why it's not automatic like everywhere else.

I am using Firefox 3.6.3 (Linux) at the moment, and external links in LTG do open in a new tab.

Just tested Chome 10 (Win7), external links opened a new tab.

Interestingly (or not) it happens on my end as well. Links to ebay, youtube, etc... open in same tab. (Firefox)

I have a habit of right clicking and selecting new tab for any link, so just tried an external link with standard click and it opened in a new tab-Firefox 3.6.16 on Windows PC.

Firefox 3.6.11 on Windows 7.
The one link I clicked on did open in the same window so it would seem there is an interaction between user settings and site settings.
For the record, there are so many sites in MY internet that open links in the same window that I have just trained myself to always use the right click alternative.

Just checked a few more links, Soundclick link opened in the same browser window, Youtube in a new tab, so I guess it's not universal, seems to be dependent on the site linked to.

Hold fast to the right, hold fast to the right
Wherever your footsteps may roam
Forsake not the way of a salvation, my boy
That you learned from your mother at home

For all you Carter Family fans. ;)

I'm using Firefox 4 in Windows Vista, and any Firefox I've used I've had some open a new tab, but more often they open in the same tab. I've always assumed it was something in the way it's posted.
