I just stumbled onto this video. What a cool looking Bass with the Byrds logo at the 12th fret. I am embarrassed to say that I didn't know he was the original Bass player with the Byrds. I always think of him as a guitar player and mandolin player (w/ Manassas; Souther, Hillman, Furay Band; Desert Rose Band). And he played his SF I Bass on early hits like "Turn, Turn, Turn"; "Eight Miles High" and "Rock 'n' Roll Star". I grew up listening to those songs on my older brother's stereo system. This ranks right up there with Phil L., Jack C., and Berry O., in my book!

Alert: this video is from July, 2015.

Lots of prior conversation, probably in Bass. Last time I checked it was the only Newark Street sunburst bass and one of the few in maple. You can get a Starfire II in maple now but the MSRP is a couple hundred more.

IIRC he got hired as a bass player despite not having prior experience with the instrument.
