This band offers me the opportunity to write for another side of my playing featuring my arrangements of standards from my last record Classic Guitar by Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, and Count Basie.
We have a couple of gems by my first music teacher, Yusef Lateef and a down home classic from way back. I have developed a love of Ma Rainey's work and will be debuting my version of Black Eye Blues. It's a great opportunity for my tenor banjo to make a rare appearance!
