I ordered this used D-25 case and was wondering if anyone knew what time period it was made. “Elvira” came in a decent Martin SKB case but it closes a little too tightly

for my liking, so at the risk of my wife beating me to death with it, I found this apparently D-25 specific Guild case. I spent twice what this one cost on a perfect Guild case for her F-20, (remember the Trainwreck?) so I figured my Guild needed one too.

Well, we got at least two members here with 200+ Guilds between them. Maybe they can go through all those guitars and give us the span of years that case covers🤭🫣

Given that Guild branded cases were sometimes sold with the instrument but were sometimes were an extra cost add on that might not tell us anything especially useful. Then there are the subtle issues that only a case aficionado would notice - for example my Guild badged Starfire bass case is about 10 years newer that the Starfire bass it holds but only the people who know about the older case would notice.

I know in the late 90s, D4s, DV4s and DCE1s didn't come come with cases. In fact, I held onto the TKL (flat top, grey interior) case that came with my D4 when I bought it used. The 1993 DCE1 I bought used came with a likely TKL made, Guild labeled, case (flat top, burgundy interior, same case pictured above), but I have no idea if cases came with that model then.

We know from catalogs in general, what the case options were available at a particular time and whether they were included with the guitar, an optional upgrade to what was included (i.e. you got the chipboard or gig bag unless you paid more for the HSC) or just an option.

Case was delivered last night but I won’t be home until later to check it out. I really hope the fit is right for the arched back, as this was my whole reason for buying it, along with the Guild branding.

How'd it fit? Did your wife beat you to death?

This is the case that came with my 1993 DCE1. So early/mid 90s.
Yes the exact case that came with my 99 DCE5 as well. Our guitars were arch backs too so I imagine it would fit a D25 just fine. I dont think an arch top case or flat top will make a difference. If it does let me know, that would be useful information for us for the future.

Well…they sent the wrong case. Not a guild branded, filthy, broken latch, not red interior. They open at 11:00, but no one is answering the phone yet. I wouldn’t have given $20 at a yard sale for what I received for not much under the price of a decent new hard case. I hope this works out. I’m not happy.

Talked to the owner and she asked for pics and it turns out this case goes to HER vintage Guild and one of her employees blew this badly. She is looking for the right one and is going to make it right.

That’s great news. Mistakes are made often in the retail industry due to communication breakdown. I owned several stores over thirty years, made many honest mistakes but always rectified them. I’m confident this will work out.

Nope. She couldn’t say much when there were five packages for her too…

So the store owner called back and is sending a shipping label, and she apologized profusely. I get a feeling she’s not going to be finding the right case though. I hope to be wrong.

That case is just like the case to my 70 D 35. The owner would be right to be upset if it got sent out into the world. I have the original case to my 65 Epihhone Texan and the Guild. The case to my 07 Martin D 35 was DOA when I got it. Hate those plastic cases. The 30 plus year old cases are in great shape. I'm going Hiscox from now on if I need to replace a case.
