I don't know that I've ever seen a carved SB bass. Pics please!
I never did come back and do that, did I? Here it is, next to my weird sun-faded Starfire XII and the "night blue" refinished S-100. Also one extremely non-vintage kitten.

I can't say I *need* a second S-100, but if I ever find a sunburst carved one, I doubt I'll be able to resist it.

I copied this from another thread because I like the cat. I also note that the Oak & Leaves carved JS II seems to be more common in natural so this is worthy of comment.

@The Guilds of Grot has this pair, natural.

And our own @bluesypicky puts a natural through it's paces...

Very cool collection! Love the finish on the carved JS-II - I used to kind of crave one of those (just the regular finish) but never acquired one. Would that be a 2-toned sunburst or tobacco burst or something? Your amp collection is nothing to sneeze at either!

Not really sure I'm qualified to tell the difference, but it's definitely darker than a normal sunburst, such as compared to an EB-2 or an M-80. There's not really any yellow in the JS-II. It's darker at its lightest point than a normal carved JS-II, as well, had one that I traded in when I got this one.

I might have kept the natural carved, but I've found I really prefer tapes on these basses, and I couldn't justify two nearly identical basses with the same strings.

Your amp collection is nothing to sneeze at either!

Thanks. Funny thing is, all the amps I've played the JS-II through aren't pictured: Laney pre-Supergroup, Orange OR-120, Super Reverb head, Bassman 100T. It likes tube amps.

My definition of "burst" is kind of loose. The solid body bass bursts I have seen tend to be a "fringe" of black on the edge and a single color in the middle. The Starfire burst is a tri-color and has yellow but that's it. The bass of Grot's in my avatar is a cherry burst - red and black. Grot has a Pilot that has a similar blue/black burst.
