 I just realized that I put this in the wrong section, so if a Mod can move it, it should be under Acoustic.

:D I really love to capo my guitars to get different voicings. Is there a capo made for 12's only? Can I use a Kyser or G7th or will I not have enough space?

What do ya'll use w/ your 12's.

I just sent off my $$$$ to Mr. Guildzilla. It should be a week or so before I get his JF-3012 but I can't wait. Hell, I don't even know how to tune a 12 string.

Jim Dunlop.... simple wrap-and-lock strap. Doesn't get in the way. Nice and strong.

You need a capo made for the wide neck of a 12 string.
I have tried Kyser, Victor, Shubb and Dunlop.
I like the Shubb the best.
It fits nice and you adjust the tention as needed.
Don't over tighten it.
Just enough to make the strings ring clear.
I haven't tried some of the newer capos because my old Shubb still works great and doesn't need replacing.
Get an electronic tuner if you don't already have one.
It's a must for me and a 12 string.
You will want to play around a little with how to tune the 12 string.
Mine requires me to tune the large Bass E and A string slightly flatter than the octive strings.
I also tune both B strings slightly flat. This puts everything in tune when I play in the key of G and E.
I have to flatten the same strings even more when I use a capo.
You will get a feel for your 12 string as you use it.
If it is set up well, you may not have to flatten the strings as much as I do.

By the way,
I play a JF-30-12 myself and love it!
I just have a bit of a hard time with a 12 string neck these days.

Shubb is my favorite, and Kyser comes in second. Shubb does a great job and doesn't distract. Kyser does a good job, too, but does get a lot of questioning looks. But then, I'm used to that!
Enjoy!

Kyser (for 12-strings) works for me. They ain't perfect, but then no capo is perfect. At least they're easy to handle and clamp onto the top of the headstock when not in use. When I used to use Shubbs in the past, I was always looking for them on stage...

No problem with Don's Guild leather straps! They've got a pocket for things like capos.
I like shubbs. I wonder if their antique finish capos look good with my dv52nt and this gorgeous leather strap; to the audience - until I start playin' ...

Sounds like I need one of those Guild straps, Kyser capo or not....

+1. When playing sets, I usually play the 12s stepped down to D and capo two to 440. I move into some other songs where the capo moves up the fretboard as far as the 5th fret. I also like the Schubb, but its not as quick & convenient as the Kyser when going song to song unless I have a nice two or three liner quip at hand to keep the tempo moving. Hate that adjusting capo silence...

I play a D412 and I keep it stepped down to D, so when I play with someone else, I put my Shubb on the second fret. Then (and this is where the fun begins), I'll have occasion to put the Kyser farther up the neck for a Lyle Lovett tune or two.....If I had a Boat, Step Inside this House, etc.
Enjoy all 12 strings!

Another thumbs up for shubb...still using my original shubb purchased back in the 80's (If I can remember correctly back that far  )
Sometimes I loosen the adjuster a bit and lightly clamp it on the nut when not using it or just hang it on my strap where it joins the neck (rubber part on the guitar side). But mostly it ends up in my shirt pocket.

I use a Kyser. Total reliable grip, and quick to change and covers the width perfectly. They look nice too with that ornate tail :)
I use one most of the time as I play in concert pitch alot but keep my D4-12 tuned down a step to extend neck/bridge life...

Jonas,
I have a 12 string G7, but for some reason, it doesn't clamp as tightly. I'm always adjusting it. My 6 string G7 works very nicely...

I tried the G7 12 and it kept failing me. I couldn't get it as tight as i needed and it wouldn't hold the bottom E tight enough as a result. I sent it back and bought the Kyser. Haven't looked back. :)
