As of today a user must have 50 posts, or have been a member for one year, or have a paid membership to post a thread in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum.

The previous threshold was 10 posts or a paid membership (then it was 100).

Any user may post replies in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum.

[ Please also see the following thread in the Buy/SellTrade forum which we keep current as well https://letstalkguild.com/ltg/index.php?threads/read-me-fs-ft-rules-donation-link.202401/ . If there is any inconsistency or question of clarity, please contact a moderator. ]

This increase in post count requirement is due to multiple new users not adhering to the spirit of the original rule set by Don over a decade (maybe even 20 years) ago which stated 10 posts as a minimum in order to get new users to participate in the forum before selling. We've seen multiple users just post useless comments in the threads in order to get around this limitation, so we hope that raising the limit will solve this problem.

The Buy/Sell/Trade forum was always meant to be a tool for *members* to use to buy/sell/trade with each other. Over the years we have had many new users complain that they should be able to sell their stuff here because they were selling Guild stuff and they had Guild stuff to sell, and then when they sold their stuff they didn't make a donation. These users were taking advantage of the community instead of being a part of it, so letting these users pay to sell to the community lets them benefit the community while selling.

Any paid membership allows posting threads in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum. Membership levels are:

Bronze - $15 for one month
Silver - $25 for six months
Gold - $50 for one year
Platinum - $100 for one year

As always, threads attempting to sell outside of the Buy/Sell/Trade forum will be deleted.

WTB threads for users under 50 posts or who have not been a member for one year may be moved into the Buy/Sell/Trade forum at the moderator's discretion.

Edit: I'd just like to add that the purpose of the Buy/Sell/Trade forum is for the use of members. If you can't afford to send a donation or you're selling your guitar to pay the rent or something, please do not send LTG money. Likewise, I do not expect anyone to buy a supporting membership - especially if you can't afford it! Please take care of yourself first. Thanks to everyone who helps pay the server bills by doing so! It is greatly appreciated. Thanks to all the members who make this community great by posting and sharing your knowledge and experience! THAT is the real value of LTG.

Makes perfect sense and thank you for taking the time to explain.

I have changed the requirement for posting in the FS forum without a paid membership from needs 100 posts to needs 50 posts or at least one year of membership.

If you have only 20 posts but have been a member for years then you should be able to post in the FS sections, so that's what this change is about. I also think that 100 posts was a bit extreme - sorry about that.

To summarize. You may post in the FS/Trade/WTB forum if you meet ANY of the following conditions:
  • You have 50+ posts
  • You have been a member for 1+ years
  • You have any level of paid membership

This is quite helpful. I am planning on selling my Guild SC3 Paloma and think this is the best place to be.
I will pay for a membership in this quality Forum.
Your name isn’t Gordon by any chance, is it?

No - my name is John. Live in Washington.
Great photo!
My Paloma is blonde and in mint condition. Purchased it in 2001 at the Guitar Center in San Jose.

I was joking (Sting's real name is Gordon)

I know there are several members here who would be interested in acquiring your guitar, so make sure to post lots of pictures when you list it in the FS forum.

Good luck!

Yes, I "notified" two of them in post #7!

Good luck, John!

Thank you! Doing my research on setting price. Not easy as there is zero history on eBay or Reverb.

Appreciate the forum support.

I'm locking this post. We're not supposed to "sell" outside of the For Sale forum and this veer doesn't really belong here. No harm done. Thanks.
