Is the phase/splitter switch on this early Bluesbird original?

Unlikely as also the '59 pickups used were only 2 wire I thought. But who knows...well most probably Hans does.

That reminds me - most of the pickups on the early Bluesbirds did not have covers. This one does.

Usually no pickguards, either. Or if they have one, they actually fit!

I’d say not in that position. The Guilds I’ve seen with a factory added mini toggle had them right beneath the the pick guard.

Not correct for 1996, they came with pickguards as the 1997 catalog shows. Mind those are the models with black pickup rings and black knobs. The one in Reverb just has a wrongly adjusted bracket.

My ‘97 has no pick guard, but remember the configurations didn’t magically change in January 1st. :)

Wasn't it the way that on the remaining '97 models with black knobs and pickup rings they had the pickguard and bracket supplied in the case but not mounted? I thought I read something like this. (without searching...)

EDIT: From: https://www.gad.net/Blog/2016/07/17/1997-guild-bluesbird-guitar/

You know, I never knew that, that's interesting. My Sadowsky came with the pickguard separate, even though it was used, which (at least to me) made a difference. No holes drilled, etc.

I took the pickguard off all the guitars in my signature below that had one, and other guitars as well. I had a '58 Gibson ES-225, that's the only guitar I kept one on.

For me, they seem to be "in the way" when playing, but I would also say that IMO, this style of guitar looks so much better without a pickguard. I want to see all of that maple top!

Wiring looks very odd...The green ground wires don't look factory as does the unisolated ground stranded wires and the solder points. That switch was hacked in place somehow, hard to imagine somebody at Guild did this. All new except the pots.
