I have a drop-dead gorgeous '97 cherry sunburst AAA Bluesbird. I am a learner guitarist, and, because I can, I would like to "improve" the birdy. Before anyone out there goes "AAAARGH!!!!", I should explain that I am an old geezer, not a flaky kid who is going to commit an act of sacrilege. I will start with gold hardware, and thereafter I would appreciate some advise. I seek a nice "woody, mellow" tone. Peter Green is my hero, should I spring for Seymour Duncan Peter Greens, or something else ? And yes, I know; they ain't going to make me sound like the Green man !! Any bridge/tailpiece recommendations ? How about pots/ selector switch - any recommendations here ? I would appreciate any advise please. I love this guitar and will outfit it with only the best components. Then I'll buy a Starfire IV and do the same things to that.

For the out of phase Peter Green tone, you need to flip the magnets in one of your pickups, and when both are selected they'll be out of phase with eachother - easy job if you've opened up a pickup before, but I'd leave it to a tech if you're not comfortable with it.

CTS pots and switchcraft jack and switch are just about the best you can get for electronic components, but your guitar might already have those, I don't know.

Thanks Walter. Anywhere on the net that I can purchase the pots and switch that you know of, please ? Gold hardware I know, will tarnish, but a bit of "relicing" wont worry me. I'll probably fit Seymour Duncan Peter Green p/u's - expensive though. Around US$280 a set if I remember rightly. Are you a fan of Peter Green also ? I could weep thinking of the talent that was lost to us for all those years. In fact I DO weep on occasion listening to him. Very happy weeping though !! Kind regards, Gary. P.S. Hope there are no other Kiwis on this forum - Kiwi blokes aren't supposed to weep ! I could get a reputation!

You're lookin' at it! I usually have stock on that stuff, but Walter's right...you may already have them on your guitar.
