Yep, pretty cool! But as you say, not $5K worth of cool. I know some folks really go for vintage, but personally, I subtract value for vintage models (this one's nearly 50 years old), and I no longer add much value for rarity.

Actually it's from 1986 (if you believe the Guild dating tables), not 1974.

The ad says it was set up by Fixit. I would love to hear what he has to say about this guitar.

The guitar looks near-mint.

I love how even the nut and tuners are black. Curiously, however, the bridge pins are not.

Pretty, but part of the F412's allure to me is the beautiful maple and spruce.

And the seller is out of their mind on that asking price!

Then they had to spray black paint all over it. Unless maybe it had a weird grain abnormality causing them to come to the decision to paint it black.

And here's another case of a really nice ebony fretboard with the V-block inlays and racing stripes and the fretboard is not bound!! I guess it's all part of the black/black theme, but unusual.

Take another close look at the photos; the fingerboard is bound, but it's black binding and you can see the small white lines on the side of the neck!

Sincerely,

Personally, I love black guitars and although it may be true in some cases, I don't think all guitars painted black were done so to cover up wood issues. cosmetic or otherwise. I'm not a huge fan of 12 strings but I'd buy this one at the right price just because I think it looks superb and I've never owned a bad sounding F-412. But alas, it's never going to go at what I consider to be the "right price".
